About the Artwork
Call of the Baobabs-2 is an evocative vertical artwork created using ink and acrylic by artist Sanjay Lavakare. Measuring 36 x 30 inches (91 x 76 cm), this piece presents a surreal landscape dominated by sculpted baobab trees set against a dusty rose and violet sky. The composition balances detailed pen linework with rich acrylic tones, anchored by a large pale moon and red figure groupings at the base.
Artistic Details
Utilising ink and acrylic on canvas, Sanjay Lavakare constructs detailed textures across the baobab trunks using delicate scalloped patterns and dark cross-hatching. Soft white blossoms crown the slender branches, catching the light from a pale pink celestial disc. At ground level, figures dressed in bright orange-red robes move across textured dark paths, creating a compelling colour contrast against the surrounding plum and lavender tones.
